TEACHING-METHODICAL WORK

Since 2003 the department has been the base for the discipline of pathological physiology taught to students of the pharmaceutical faculty. For the past years, it has been published: “Manual for independent work for practical classes in the course of pathological physiology’ intended for students of the pharmaceutical faculty trained to specialize in “Pharmacy” – 1102 in the specialities 7.110201 – pharmacy, 7.110206 – clinical pharmacy, Ed. prof. Bidiuk M.M. (2004). At the department, there has been reviewed the manual “Pathophysiology” Ed. prof. Kubyshkin A.M. and prof. Kharchenko V.Z. (Simferopol, 2004). “The typical program of pathophysiology” was developed ans issued for English medium students of the higher educational pharmaceutical establishment and pharmaceutical faculties of higher educational establishments (2006, 2010). In 2008 there was published the “Collection of test assignments” for students of the pharmaceutical faculty as a guide to the license exam “Step-1. Pharmacy”. In 2009,  the department published “Methodical recommendations for practical classes of pathological physiology” for students of the distant form of study (the length of the course 5.5 years).
The teaching staff of the department in collaboration with the department of pathophysiology of Kharkiv pharmaceutical academy prepared and published the course book “Pathological physiology” Ed. Reheda M.S and Berezniakova A.I. intended for students of the higher pharmaceutical educational establishment and pharmaceutical faculties of higher medical educational establishments in Ukraine (Lviv 2011).

In accordance with the Regulations in respect to the activity of base departments (issue 1.6), there are held and hosted annual meetings of the Heads of similar departments of higher educational establishments of Ukraine.

RESEARCH WORK

The topic of the research conducted at the department is “Pathogenetic aspects of the allergic and inflammatory processes, their impact on the organism’s reactivity and pharmacocorrection” UDK: 616 – 056.3+616 – 002) – 02 – 092.19 – 08. No. of state registration 0106U012669 (2011-2015).
The research has been focusing on the study of pathophysiological mechanisms for the development of allergic and inflammatory reactions at different levels of organization, peculiarities of the organism reactivity, their diagnostics and treatment. In the experiment and clinic, it  has been investigated the functional status of prooxidant, antioxidant and immune systems in the blood and tissues, shifts of metabolic processes in allergic alveolitis, pneumonia and bronchial asthma, stress, adrenal damage of the myocardium. It has been sought for the immunocorrective, immunomodulatory and antioxidant means capable of influencing the abovementioned processes, in particular, alpha tocopherol acetate, tiatriazoline and quercitrol. The department received 3 patents for the inventions.
The department of pathological physiology of Lviv national medical university collaborates with: O.O.Bohomolets Institute of physiology of the NASc. of Ukraine; Lviv State Scientific-research Institute of veterinary preparations and fodder additives (laboratory of pharmacy and toxicology); the National University “Lvivska Politekhnika” (the department of biologically active compounds, pharmacy and biotechnologies), CRR “Lviv medical institute” (biochemical laboratory).
